Over the years, he's gathered together quite a collection of water heater explosion news accounts and has generously agreed to display them here. . . . Viewing the wreckage of the home, it seems that only a miracle saved Mrs. Swan and the children from serious injury or death. The water heater was blown through the roof and was found several hundred yards west of the building. The force of the explosion was so great that the brick veneer covering several feet of the outside walls was blown loose from the walls.  . .

An iron water heater exploded in south Los Angeles. . . the 75 pound water heater soared twice the height of nearby palm trees and landed in a driveway. (Blast Master note: According to Google Earth, this is about 1,000 feet away).

An explosion of a water heater severely damaged the home of an Army doctor, and debris damaged four nearby houses. . .the water tank was found some 100 yards away. . .

Blast Master Note: The reference to the dip tube is erroneous. A dip tube has nothing to do with whether or not a water heater will explode.

. . . a faulty water heater exploded . . . windows blocks away were shattered. . . kitchen sink blown through a wall. . .toilet was hurled across the street. . . refrigerator found more than a block away. . . . . faulty thermostatic control valve on the gas water heater. Pressure built up and forced water back up into the pipes. The water then turned to steam and exploded. . . without a pressure release valve to let steam escape. . .

. .  two story . . . home here suddenly turned into a little Cape Kennedy . . .electric water heater blasted loose from it's "pad" in the kitchen and rocketed through the roof, smashing to a landing in a neighbor's lawn.  . . almost wrecked one end of the substantial frame residence . .

. .  . 30 gallon hot water tank exploded and tore through the roof. The tank hurled 300 feet over Biltmore Tourist Court and "splashed down" by Bill's Drive In.
